That's what politicians do; especially Democrat politicians. They promise "bread and circuses" with someone else's money but they can't answer when someone reminds them there isn't enough money in the world to deliver on their promises. Obama's speech to the Dem convention is the kind of "rhetorical overreach" you grow used to when Democrats speak. But they predictably raise your taxes anyway. Clinton promised to LOWER taxes, but two weeks into his presidency, he said, "I worked harder than I've ever worked, but I can't find any way to lower your taxes." Then he RAISED taxes, retroactively (unconstitutionally). But Bush lowered taxes for EVERYBODY, not just "the rich," and earned the enmity of many on the advice of Democrats. Unfortunately, most Bush-haters can't tell you why they hate him, except in the most general terms. They don't KNOW why, except the Democrats told them they should. But I can tell you why they hate him. He has "stopped the liberals in their tracks" every time they have come up against them and has the guts to do what's right (see: Iraq) even if the Democrats don't like it. I have my own problems with Bush (Two Border Patrolmen who were imprisoned for doing their jobs; and his stance on "stem cell research," among other things), but lowering taxes and embarrassing liberals (Democrats) isn't among them. Further, if anybody can show me where he promised more than he could deliver, I'd appreciate them telling me about it. But they'd better give me more than generalities and slogans. (Just common sense)
